About the mandatory unsubscribe message of SMS messages

SMS messages that you send from ezyVet could include a mandatory unsubscribe message. The mandatory unsubscribe message is necessary for compliance with ezyVet's SMS provider. ezyVet automatically adds the unsubscribe message at an interval of 28 days to each SMS message that you send from ezyVet.

Note: The mandatory unsubscribe message is applicable only to customers in:
  • The United States
  • Canada

The unsubscribe message text shows Reply STOP to unsubscribe.

After a client enters STOP in a reply for an unsubscribe message:
  1. They are unsubscribed and they will not receive more SMS messages from ezyVet
  2. ezyVet’s SMS provider automatically sends an SMS message back to the client to tell them that they are unsubscribed
  3. ezyVet sets the status of SMS messages that you subsequently use ezyVet to send to the unsubscribed client to the Failed status
  4. The SMS provider charges your organization for each SMS message that you send to the unsubscribed client

A client could accidentally enter STOP in a reply to an unsubscribe message. If they want to receive messages again, they can enter UNSTOP or START in a reply to the initial unsubscribe message.

Unsubscribe message costs

The unsubscribe message text could automatically add 27 characters to an SMS message. As a result, the 27 characters could increase the cost of an SMS message that you use ezyVet to send.

To prevent the cost increase that could occur:
  • A practice manager can decrease the number of characters of the applicable SMS templates
  • You can decrease the number of characters that you directly enter in the applicable box before you send an SMS message
The ezyVet SMS provider charges your organization for each SMS message that you send to an unsubscribed client. If your site has communication tasks configured, ezyVet could automatically send SMS messages to unsubscribed clients (for example, appointment reminders). To prevent the automatic SMS messages for unsubscribed clients, find the applicable contact record. Then, clear the For Reminders/Automated Communication setting of the applicable phone number:
