ezyVet performance troubleshooting

To find the causes of a performance problem in your ezyVet site, it is important to carefully do each applicable troubleshooting procedure. If you do each troubleshooting procedure, you can correct the performance problem in a shorter time.

ezyVet performance problems could have could have one cause or could have many causes. And some of the causes could also have no relation to ezyVet. For example, antivirus apps have no relation to ezyVet. But an antivirus app that has an incorrect configuration can cause an ezyVet performance problem. (A device that has a problem with its hard drive is one more example of a cause that has no relation to ezyVet.)

Note: Make sure that you do the troubleshooting procedures before you speak to ezyVet customer support.
Note: To quickly know about other problems that could cause a performance problem with your ezyVet site, refer to status.idexxsoftware.com.

Note: For information about how to do a check of extensions, refer to support.google.com/chrome_webstore/answer/2664769.

Temporarily use a different web browser (for example, Mozilla Firefox). If the performance is better, then the initial Chrome installation is the possible cause.

Note: For information about Chrome's cache, refer to support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050.

Temporarily use a different web browser (for example, Mozilla Firefox). If the performance is better, then the initial Chrome installation is the possible cause.

Your antivirus app causes interference with ezyVet or with Google Chrome

Make sure that your antivirus app has the correct configuration

Configure your antivirus app to stop scans of the address of your ezyVet site. If the performance problems stop after you configure the antivirus app, the app is the possible cause.

If your antivirus app has an extension for Chrome, disable the extension and monitor the performance. If the performance problems stop, the browser extension is the possible cause.
Note: For information about how to disable extensions, refer to A Google Chrome extension causes a performance problem.

Temporarily disable the full antivirus app. If the performance problems stop after you disable the antivirus app, the app is the possible cause.

Note: Troubleshooting some of the performance problems that antivirus software causes is not easy. If necessary:
  • Refer to your antivirus app documentation
  • Speak to your IT staff or a dedicated IT company

Your network does not have sufficient performance

Do checks of your network

Use a different network. For example, if the device uses a Wi-Fi, connection, change to an Ethernet connection or a mobile hotspot. If the performance is good, the initial network is the possible cause of the problem.

Do a check of the ezyVet system requirements. If necessary, upgrade your network.

Your device does not have sufficient memory and processor performance

Do checks for your device

Use ezyVet on a device that has more memory and a better processor. If the performance is good, the initial device is the possible cause of the problem.

Do a check of the ezyVet system requirements. If necessary, upgrade your device.

Your device has a general performance problem

Do general troubleshooting for your device

Restart your device and monitor its performance.

Use ezyVet on a different device. If the performance is good, the initial device is the possible cause of the problem.

Refer to the applicable troubleshooting documentation of your device's operating system. For example:
  • Tips to improve PC performance in Windows 10 (Microsoft Windows documentation)
  • If your Mac runs slowly (Apple macOS documentation)
Note: If the performance problem continues and other troubleshooting procedures do not correct the problem, speak to your IT staff or an IT company.

Background tasks of your device are in progress

Background tasks of your device that can cause a performance problem include antivirus scans and operating system updates (for example, Microsoft Windows updates). These background tasks are usually necessary for correct operation of your device.

Wait until the background tasks are completed

If necessary, speak to your IT staff or an IT company about the background tasks.

A task that uses the Records dashboard is in progress

If staff use the Records dashboard to change the data of many records with many filters, the task can cause a performance problem.

Do the task at a different work time

Make sure that staff only do the applicable types of tasks when there is less work. Or make sure that staff do these tasks with a smaller set of data each time.

An ezyVet automated task is in progress

ezyVet automated tasks that use a large quantity of data can cause a performance problem. Examples of applicable automated tasks include:
  • Automated reports
  • Automated tagging tasks
  • Automated reminders

Configure the automated tasks to start at a different time

An automated task that starts at times when there is less staff work helps prevent performance problems. For example, configure the automated task to start during the night or start after business hours.

Note: It is best to configure ezyVet to make the reminders during the night or not in business hours. But ezyVet can send the reminders during business hours and it will not cause a performance problem.

Your device has malware

Malware uses the memory and processor power of your device.

Use your device’s security software or your antivirus app to remove the malware

Tip: For an example of how to remove malware, refer to support.google.com/chrome/answer/2765944.
Important: Malware is dangerous. If you cannot remove the malware, speak to your IT staff or a dedicated IT company.
