A barcode scanner records incorrect numbers

Condition

Do these checks if the barcode scanner records incorrect numbers in ezyVet.

Antivirus software prevents the correct operation of the barcode scanner

Use a different web browser to do a test scan. For example, if you usually use Google Chrome, use Mozilla Firefox. If the recorded numbers are correct, the problem is possibly related to antivirus software and one web browser on your computer only.

Use a different app on the same computer to do a test scan. For example, use the dedicated note-taking app on the computer to do a test scan. If the recorded numbers are correct, the problem is possibly related to antivirus software and the web browser on your computer only.

Connect the barcode scanner to a different computer and do a test scan. If the recorded numbers are correct, the problem is possibly related to antivirus software on one computer only.

It is possible that the web protection settings of the antivirus software are the cause of the problem. Do a check of antivirus software settings. If possible, set an exception in the web protection settings for the address of the applicable ezyVet site.
Note: If necessary, refer to the antivirus software documentation or speak to your IT staff.

Incorrect calibration of the barcode scanner

Reset the barcode scanner to its default settings.

Recalibrate the barcode scanner.

Note: If necessary, refer to the barcode scanner documentation or speak to your IT staff.

Incorrect scan delay settings in the barcode scanner software

Open the barcode scanner software and do a check of the scan delay settings. If necessary, do tests with different scan settings.
Note: The scan delay setting could have a different name in the scanner product that your organization uses. If necessary, refer to the barcode scanner documentation or speak to your IT staff.
