Configure a medication product record as a controlled drug

A practice manager can configure a medication product record as a controlled drug. As a result, when staff dispense the medication, the output of the Controlled Drug report automatically shows that staff dispensed a controlled drug.

Make sure that you know the product identifier of the applicable controlled drug.
Note: In the United States, a controlled drug uses a National Drug Code (NDC) for the product identifier. The NDC has 11 numbers.
To do the configuration, do this procedure.
Note: Steps 6 thru 7 are only mandatory for organizations in the United States.
  1. Select Admin.
    The Admin tab
  2. In the settings list, select Products.
The Products setting in the settings list
The left sidebar shows the configured product records of your site.
  3. Find and select the applicable product.
    ezyVet shows the product settings.
  4. Make sure that Type is set to Medication.
  5. In the Properties section, set Is Controlled Drug to Yes.
    The Is Controlled Drug setting

    The Advanced tab
  7. In the Schedule/Class box of the Additional Properties section, enter the schedule. The chedule/Class box
Note: It is only necessary to enter a schedule if it is mandatory for your organization. For example, a schedule is mandatory for controlled drug reporting in the United States.
  8. In the Product Identifier box, enter the product identifier.
    The Product Identifier box
  9. Select Save.

    ezyVet shows a confirmation message:
