Configure a medication product record as a controlled drug
A practice manager can configure a medication product record as a controlled drug. As a result, when staff dispense the medication, the output of the Controlled Drug report automatically shows that staff dispensed a controlled drug.
Make sure that you know the product identifier of the applicable controlled drug.
Note: In the United States, a controlled drug uses a National Drug Code (NDC) for the product identifier. The NDC has 11 numbers.
- Select Admin.
- In the settings list, select Products.The left sidebar shows the configured product records of your site.
- In the Properties section, set Is Controlled Drug to Yes.
- Select Advanced.
- In the Schedule/Class box of the Additional Properties section, enter the schedule.Note: It is only necessary to enter a schedule if it is mandatory for your organization. For example, a schedule is mandatory for controlled drug reporting in the United States.
- In the Product Identifier box, enter the product identifier.
