Current medications

When you add a medication to a clinical record, you can set the medication as a current medication. A current medication identifies a medication that a patient takes at this time.

To set a medication as a current medication, use the Current Medication setting that shows in a Medication Prescription dialog box:

When you set a current medication, you can select or enter information that identifies why the medication is necessary:

Current medications as take-home medications

An alternative function of a current medication is to identify a take-home medication. To show take-home medications in a discharge summary, use one of these template variables in the applicable document template for the discharge summary:
  • {ConsultCurrentMedicationsList}
  • {ConsultCurrentMedicationsListBasic}
As a result, the discharge summary:
  • Shows current medications that are equivalent to take-home medications
  • Does not include injectables and in-hospital medications
