Treatment task quantities for intravenous (IV) infusion treatments

You can add one more treatment task to a patient’s fluid treatment on the same treatment line. And you can add one more treatment task to a patient's continuous rate of infusion (CRI) treatment on the same treatment line.

Vet Radar uses treatment tasks to show other staff the patient’s treatment schedule. You can use Vet Radar to:
  • Show the start and stop time of a treatment
  • Schedule changes to the fluid rate
A client admitted a patient with severe vomiting. You made the decision to give the patient an IV infusion treatment of maintenance fluids. You schedule the treatment to stop after three hours. Vet Radar identifies that the treatment stopped with a full blue circle:
A stopped IV infusion treatment task
After you stopped the treatment, the patient started to vomit again. You use Vet Radar to schedule one more treatment task on the same treatment line. Vet Radar identifies that you started the treatment again with a full blue circle:
An IV infusion treatment task
As a result, other staff can quickly and easily see:
  1. That the patient had an IV infusion treatment for a three hour period
  2. That you stopped that IV infusion treatment
  3. That you started the treatment again
