General steps to configure and use the Controlled Drug report

It is important to know the general steps to configure and use the Controlled Drug report.

Note: It is only mandatory to configure your organization's pharmacy information if:
  • Your organization dispenses controlled drugs in the United States
  • You want to use the ASAP versions of the Controlled Drug report

Note: It is only necessary to configure the Medication Prescription dialog box to show Serial Number boxes:
  • If it is mandatory to use serialized prescription pads in your state
  • If it is mandatory to include the serial number for each prescription of each controlled drug that you dispense

4Staff or a practice manager add Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration numbers to user accounts.
Note: It is mandatory to add DEA registration numbers to user accounts if you dispense controlled drugs in the United States.

Add a DEA registration number to a staff user account

5Staff dispense controlled drugs.
Note: Staff must add driver license information to a client contact record before they dispense controlled drugs:
  • If your organization dispenses controlled drugs in the United States
  • If it is mandatory in your state to include driver license information in controlled drug reports
6Staff use the Controlled Drug report to show the controlled drugs that they dispensed.Show controlled drugs that staff dispensed
7Staff upload the report to the applicable reporting portal for controlled drugs.
Note: It is only mandatory to upload an ASAP version of the Controlled Drug report to a reporting portal if you dispense controlled drugs in the United States.
