About appointment statuses

An appointment status is a type of ezyVet record that gives the status of an appointment. Each appointment status has a name and an icon that identifies the applicable status.

When you make an appointment, you can select the applicable appointment status. ezyVet shows the appointment status in calendar appointments.

Note: A new appointment always has an appointment status of No Status. ezyVet cannot automatically select a different appointment status when you make an appointment. For example, when you make an appointment, ezyVet cannot automatically select the Unconfirmed appointment status. You must manually select the different appointment status when you make the appointment.

Appointment status types

ezyVet has two types of appointment status:
  • Standard appointment status
  • Custom appointment status

A standard appointment status is a type of appointment status that all ezyVet sites automatically have. You cannot change the name or icon of a standard appointment status.

Use a custom appointment statuses for appointment statuses that are applicable to your organization. A practice manager configures each custom appointment status. Compared to a standard appointment status, a practice manager can change the name of a custom appointment status.
Note: Custom appointment statuses sync to:
  • ezyVet Go
  • IDEXX SmartFlow
Note: ezyVet Go syncs custom appointment statuses from ezyVet. But it does not show the icons of custom appointment statuses.
Callisto Vets has more than one patient waiting room. A practice manager:
  1. Makes a custom appointment status for each waiting room
  2. Enters a name for each custom appointment status that identifies each waiting room (for example, Consultation Room 1 and Consultation Room 2)
  3. Selects an icon for each custom appointment status that identifies the related waiting room
When a patient is in a waiting room, the receptionist selects the applicable custom appointment status for the waiting room. As a result, other staff can quickly and easily:
  • Know the waiting room that a patient is in
  • Find available waiting rooms
