How clients stop and start text messages from Vello

A client can send text messages to your registered phone number to start and stop text messages from Vello.

Text message reminders that Vello sends to clients include a mandatory unsubscribe message. The unsubscribe message is necessary for compliance with Vello's SMS provider. Vello automatically adds the unsubscribe message to each text message reminder that Vello sends to clients. If a client wants to, they can unsubscribe from text messages that Vello sends.

The unsubscribe message text shows: Reply STOP to unsubscribe.:

After a client enters STOP in a reply:
  • The client is unsubscribed
  • Vello's SMS provider automatically sends this text message to the client: You have successfully been unsubscribed. You will not receive any more messages from this number. Reply START to resubscribe.
  • It is not possible to use Vello to send text messages to the client
  • It is not possible for Vello to send text message reminders to the client
  • Vello shows you a message in the conversation view of the Vello inbox to tell you that the client is unsubscribed

How clients can receive text messages again

A client can send a reply to a text message reminder that they received from your practice's registered phone number to receive messages from Vello again. Clients can enter one of these replies:
  • START
  • YES
  • UNSTOP
Note: If a client does not have a text message from your practice's registered phone number, they can:
  • Contact your practice to get the registered phone number
  • Go to your practice's website to get the registered phone number (if applicable)
