The Xero Management dashboard tab shows a contact name is already assigned to another contact error message

Condition

If the Xero Management dashboard tab shows The contact name is already assigned to another contact. The contact name must be unique across all active contacts, do this troubleshooting.

A different client contact record has the same name

The error message that the Xero Management dashboard tab shows includes the name that the other contact record has. This example shows a contact record name of Black, Bernard:

Change the name of one of the client contact records

  1. Select Contacts.
    The Contacts tab
  2. Find and select the applicable contact record.
  3. In the boxes of the Personal Details section, enter a different name.

    Note: As an alternative, you can keep the same name but change the title.
  4. Select Save.

    ezyVet shows a confirmation message:

Merge the applicable client contact records

Note: Do these troubleshooting steps if the client has two client contact records.
  1. Select Contacts.
    The Contacts tab
    ezyVet shows the contact records of your site.
  2. Find and select the client contact record that you want to keep.
    ezyVet shows the settings of the contact record.
  3. Select Merge.

  4. Use the box to select the contact record to merge with the contact record that you want to keep.

  5. Select Merge.
