Methods to change a financial record that is in a financial lockdown period

Financial lockdown helps to make sure that your organization has accurate financial records. Thus, you usually cannot directly make changes to a financial record that is in a financial lockdown period. But you can use alternative methods to make record changes (for example, to make corrections to invoices and payments that are not accurate).

For an invoice that is in a financial lockdown period, you can make a credit note that removes the value of the initial incorrect invoice. Then, make an invoice that has the correct information.

For a payment that is in a lockdown period, you can do a refund that removes the value of the initial incorrect payment. Then, make a payment that has the correct value.

Temporarily change the financial lockdown configuration

A person who has the necessary user account permissions can also temporarily change the financial lockdown configuration. As a result, staff can change an applicable financial record directly.
Warning: Be careful when you use this method. It could cause differences in a financial report done again for the same period. To show correct revenue data in reports, a recommended procedure is to make a credit for an incorrect payment. This makes sure that the reporting period of the incorrect payment does not show a change. If you disable the incorrect payment directly, the reporting period for revenue data and accounts receivable balances will show a change.
