About workflows

The workflow feature is a sequence of steps and procedures that staff must complete. You can use workflow tasks to quickly and easily show other staff members information about the patient. For example, a receptionist can use the workflow whiteboard to tell a client if the patient is still in surgery.

Workflow tasks

Workflow tasks are not related to treatments or treatment tasks. You can use workflow tasks as checks that you must complete before you move to the step of a patient’s clinical care. You can make as many workflow tasks as is necessary. Vet Radar shows the workflow tasks in a sequence. You can select the circle in a workflow task to show that you completed the workflow task.
Figure 1. Example of workflow tasks in a patient sheet

Example of workflow tasks in a patient sheet
Vet Radar shows the workflow tasks in:
  • The workflow whiteboard
  • The patient sheet

When you complete a workflow task, Vet Radar shows the date and time that you completed the workflow task.

Note: The workflow tasks are connected to the patient’s clinical record. Before you can add workflow tasks to the patient's clinical record, the patient must have a patient sheet. If you remove a patient sheet, Vet Radardoes not remove the workflow tasks from the patient record.

Workflow templates

Practice managers can make a workflow template. A practice manager could make a workflow template for the most frequent workflow tasks in your organization (for example, a patient check-in or a patient in surgery). Staff can use the workflow templates to quickly and easily add workflow tasks to a patient's clinical record.

If necessary, you can add many workflow templates to a patient's clinical record.

A client makes a decision that Chester must go to the veterinary practice because Chester is vomiting. A nurse admits the patient. The nurse does a check of the patient record in ezyVet. The patient record shows that Chester did not have their dental check-up. The nurse makes a decision to add:
  • A general hospital workflow template
  • A dental checkup workflow template
  • A monitoring workflow template
Other staff members can see the workflow tasks that the patient’s clinical record has on the workflow whiteboard.
