About demeanor statuses

Demeanor is the behavior of a patient and how they interact with their environment. For example, a patient could show aggression with other species. Or a patient could try to bite when given food. Good demeanor information is very important for veterinary practices.

A demeanor status is an ezyVet feature that identifies the demeanor of a patient. You set the demeanor status in the patient record. ezyVet shows the demeanor status in different areas of its user interface. For example:
  • In the record sidebar of patient records and clinical records
  • In the pop-up window shown when you hover over a calendar appointment
  • In the pop-up window shown when you hover over patient records

A patient can have more than one demeanor status. If you select more than one demeanor status, ezyVet shows each status in the record sidebar.

Standard demeanor statusesCopy

ezyVet has a set of standard demeanor statuses. You can cannot change the name or color of a standard demeanor status. But you can change:
  • Its icon
  • The sequence that ezyVet uses to show the demeanor status in the user interface (for example, in lists)
Tip: The standard set of demeanor statuses means that you can quickly and easily do reporting of patients' demeanors.
Each standard demeanor status has a related color. If you set more than one standard demeanor status for a patient:
  1. ezyVet automatically calculates an applicable color
  2. ezyVet automatically changes the color of the patient icon to the applicable color

Custom demeanor statusesCopy

If a standard demeanor status is not sufficient for your organization's workflows, you can make a custom demeanor status. A custom demeanor status can have a different name and a different color compared to a standard demeanor status.
Note: Custom demeanor statuses:
  • Do not sync to Vet Radar
  • Do not sync to SmartFlow

Display modes of demeanor statusesCopy

The demeanor status section of the record sidebar has three display modes. Each display mode uses a different method to show the demeanor status. To change the display mode, select the display mode button.

After you select the button, its icon changes to identify the related display mode. This table gives information about each display mode:

Tip: If you hover over an icon, ezyVet shows the name of the demeanor status.

Tip: You can use this display mode when it is necessary to show a patient record to a client. For example, a client could have a problem with the demeanor status given to their patient. You can hide the demeanor status before you show the record to the client.
Note: The display mode setting of the demeanor status is applicable to your user account only. After you change the display mode, ezyVet does not change the display mode used by other staff user accounts.
Note: After you change the display mode, ezyVet keeps the setting until you change it again.
