IDEXX Web PACS and diagnostic imaging requests

For staff to send diagnostic imaging requests to IDEXX Web PACS, a practice manager makes site diagnostics in ezyVet. A site diagnostic is a record that identifies a type of diagnostic imaging.

Each site diagnostic has the name, code, and other information of an imaging type for IDEXX Web PACS. After a practice manager makes a site diagnostic, staff can select it when they make a diagnostic imaging request.

The available site diagnostics that staff can select show in a Diagnostics box of the New Diagnostic Request dialog box:

Callisto Vets uses the IDEXX Web PACS integration. Staff want to send diagnostic imaging requests for a two-view X-Ray exam to IDEXX Web PACS .

The practice manager makes a site diagnostic for the imaging type. For the site diagnostic name, they enter X-Ray CR 2-View Exam and they make other settings as necessary. For example, they can:
  • Set a diagnostic product that has the price of the imaging type
  • Set a diagnostic interpretation type that ezyVet uses to automatically send a diagnostic interpretation request at the same time as an imaging request
A staff member opens a clinical record to make an imaging request for the two-view X-Ray exam. In the New Diagnostic Request dialog box that ezyVet shows, the staff member:
  1. Uses the Diagnostic Supplier box to select the applicable supplier contact record for IDEXX Web PACS
  2. Uses a Diagnostics box to find and select X-Ray CR 2-View Exam
  3. Completes other necessary information, then sends the imaging request

Site diagnostic settings

The table that follows gives the settings and functions that are applicable to site diagnostics for IDEXX Web PACS diagnostic imaging requests. A practice manager uses settings when they make a site diagnostic record for a type of diagnostic imaging for IDEXX Web PACS.

SettingFunction
CodeUse Code to enter a code for the type of diagnostic imaging.
Important: Do not enter a code that is more than 16 characters. If you enter more than 16 characters, ezyVet cannot send diagnostic imaging requests to IDEXX Web PACS.
NameUse Name to enter a name for the type of diagnostic imaging.
SupplierUse Supplier to select an applicable supplier contact record for the modality that you want to use.
Make sure that you select the same supplier contact record of theIDEXX Web PACS integration that you configured for the applicable modality. For example:
  1. You want to make a site diagnostic record for an ultrasound modality
  2. You open the IDEXX Web PACS integration that you configured for an ultrasound modality and do a check of the integration settings
  3. You record the name of the supplier contact record that the integration uses
  4. When you make a site diagnostic for the ultrasound modality, use the Supplier box to select the same supplier contact record as (3)
Note: Make sure that only IDEXX Web PACS uses each supplier contact record that you make and use for IDEXX Web PACS modalities. Do not select supplier contact records that other integrations use.
Note: If ezyVet does not have a supplier contact record for a modality that you want to use with IDEXX Web PACS, make one.
Primary Billing TriggerUse Primary Billing Trigger to select an applicable diagnostic product. The diagnostic product has the price of the diagnostic imaging type. ezyVet uses the diagnostic product to automatically invoice the diagnostic imaging.
FormDo not use Form. The setting is not applicable to IDEXX Web PACS.
Default Diagnostic Interpretation CodeIf you want to use IDEXX Web PACS for diagnostic interpretations, use Default Diagnostic Interpretation Code to select an applicable diagnostic interpretation type. The interpretation type can include a diagnostic product that ezyVet uses as a billing trigger to automatically invoice the diagnostic interpretation.

Price information for diagnostic imaging types

To configure the price of a diagnostic imaging type, a practice manager makes a diagnostic product. A diagnostic product is a product record that has the price of an imaging type.

ezyVet uses a diagnostic product as a billing trigger to automatically invoice clients for diagnostic imaging. To configure ezyVet to do the automatic invoicing, a practice manager:
  1. Finds and opens the applicable site diagnostic record for the type of diagnostic imaging
  2. Configures the site diagnostic record to use the diagnostic product as a billing trigger
Callisto Vets uses the IDEXX Web PACS integration. A practice manager wants to invoice clients $500.00 for imaging requests that use a two-view X-Ray exam.

The practice manager makes a diagnostic product for a two-view X-Ray exam. In the product settings, they set $500.00 as the price.

Then, the practice manager finds and opens the site diagnostic record for the two-view X-Ray exam. In the site diagnostic settings, they set the diagnostic product that they made as the billing trigger for the site diagnostic.

As a result, ezyVet automatically adds a $500.00 line item to the applicable client invoice for the imaging request.
