Travel invoicing settings of an appointment type

An appointment type has three settings that control how ezyVet calculates travel costs. The settings are in the Travel Billing section of the configuration of the appointment type.

Note: The settings only show if you set Charge travel fee to ON.

These sections give information about the function of each setting.

Variable Travel Fee Product setting

Use the Variable Travel Fee Product setting to select a financial product that ezyVet uses to calculate variable travel costs. Variable travel costs mean that you can invoice a different travel cost for a different appointment type.

You make a financial product to calculate the cost of each kilometer traveled for farm appointments. The financial product has a value of $5. You use the Variable Travel Fee Product setting of the related appointment type to select the financial product.

Next, you make an appointment that uses the farm appointment type. The client address of the appointment has a Distance (Kilometres) value of 3. Thus, ezyVet calculates a travel cost of $15 for the appointment.

Note: If the variable travel cost calculated for an appointment is less than the Minimum Fee value, ezyVet does not use the Variable Travel Fee Product setting.
Note: It is not necessary use the Variable Travel Fee Product setting. If you do not use the setting, ezyVet does not calculate variable travel costs for appointments that use the appointment type.

Minimum Fee value

Use the Minimum Fee value to set the minimum travel cost that ezyVet calculates for an appointment.

You make a financial product to calculate the cost of each kilometer traveled for farm appointments. The financial product has a value of $5. You use the Variable Travel Fee Product setting of the related appointment type to select the financial product. And you enter a Minimum Fee value of 20 in the same appointment type.

Next, you make an appointment that uses the farm appointment type. The client address of the appointment has a Distance (Kilometres) value of 3. Thus, ezyVet calculates a travel costs of $20 for the appointment.

Note: If the variable travel cost calculated for an appointment is less than the Minimum Fee value, ezyVet uses the Minimum Fee value to invoice travel costs.
Note: If you do not enter a Minimum Fee value, ezyVet does not invoice a minimum travel cost for the appointments that use the appointment type.

Fixed Travel Fee Product setting

Use the Fixed Travel Fee Product setting to select the financial product that ezyVet uses to calculate fixed travel costs. A fixed travel cost is a travel cost that always shows in an invoice for an appointment.

You make a financial product to calculate the cost of each kilometer traveled for city appointments. The financial product has a value of $10. You use the Variable Travel Fee Product setting of the related appointment type to select the financial product. And you enter a Minimum Fee value of 5 in the same appointment type.

You also make a financial product for fixed travel costs. The financial product has a value of $15. You use the Fixed Travel Fee Product setting of the same appointment type to select the financial product.

Next, you make an appointment that uses the city appointment type. The client address of the appointment has a Distance (Kilometres) value of 3. Thus, ezyVet calculates a travel cost of $45 for the appointment.
