Make a product for bad debt write-offs

To write off a bad debt, staff make a credit note that has a dedicated product record for the write-off. The write-off product has a name and code that makes it easy to identify write-offs in reporting. After a practice manager makes the product, staff can add it to a credit note with the applicable value that is necessary to write off.

To make the product, do this procedure.
  1. Select Admin.

  2. In the settings list, select Products.

  3. Select + New product.

  4. Select Single product.

  5. Select Standard.

  6. In the Product Name box, enter a name for the product.

    Note: Enter a name that makes it easy for staff to know that the product is for write-off. For example, enter Bad Debt Write-off.
  7. If necessary, use the Product Code box to enter a product code.
  8. In the Primary Group box, select an applicable product group for the product.

  9. In the Properties section, make the necessary settings.
    Note: These are the necessary settings:
    • Clear Has direct cost (has markup)
    • Clear Bought
    • Select Sold
    • Select Included in staff sales figures
    • Clear all other settings of the Properties section
  10. Select Save.

ezyVet has the product.
Make sure that when staff make a credit note to write off a bad debt, they select the product.
