About locked clinical records

If necessary, you can lock a clinical record. After you lock a clinical record, persons cannot make changes to the clinical record directly. And persons also cannot make changes to records that have a relation to the locked clinical record. For example, a clinical record can have many related medication records. If you lock the clinical record, ezyVet also locks the medication records.

Note: If the clinical record is locked and it has a prescription record, you can dispense the medication.
ezyVet identifies a locked clinical record with a lock icon:

After you lock a record, ezyVet changes or remove the user interface buttons that persons usually select to make changes to record data. This image gives an example of some of the button changes:

Locked clinical records and clinical record lockdown

A practice manager can also configure clinical record lockdown to prevent changes to clinical records. Thus, ezyVet has two features that prevent clinical record changes:
  • Locked clinical records
  • Clinical record lockdown

It is important to know that the two features are not the same. Because you can use the features at the same time, it is important to know how and when each feature prevents changes to clinical records.
