About VetChip

The VetChip system uses a special patient microchip to give you access to accurate vitals information in ezyVet clinical records. And the VetChip system also gives easy access to the same information with a dedicated mobile app.

Note: VetChip is only available in Australia.
A VetChip microchip directly records this vitals information for a patient:
  • Heart rate
  • Temperature
  • Oxygen level
  • Physical location
After you put a VetChip microchip in a patient, you use a dedicated VetChip mobile app to:
  1. Scan the microchip
  2. Find and the applicable patient and make a relation between it and the microchip

To make it easy to find patient information with the VetChip app, ezyVet syncs its patient information to it. Information that ezyVet syncs to the mobile app for searches includes patient names, client names, and client organizations.

After you use the mobile app to make a relation between a microchip and a patient, the app:
  1. Tells ezyVet to make a health status record in a clinical record for the patient
  2. Automatically syncs vitals information that the microchip records to the health status record

As a result, the clinical record continuously has accurate vitals information for the patient.

Note: If ezyVet does not have a clinical record for the patient, the VetChip mobile app tells ezyVet to make one.
Note: For correct operation of VetChip and ezyVet:
  • Make sure that applicable clinical records are not locked
  • Make sure that you do not merge applicable clinical records
The mobile app gives easy access to the information that a VetChip microchip syncs to ezyVet. If you make changes to a clinical record that uses VetChip, ezyVet syncs the applicable information to the mobile app.
