Release notes: ezyVet version 45.5

ezyVet version 45.5 is available from July 28, 2026.

Changes to inventory settings of batch-tracked product records

The Inventory balances table does not automatically show expired batches. To show expired batches, select Show Expired. Previously, the Inventory balances table showed expired batches.

The Inventory balances table does not show deactivated batches. Previously, you could select a checkbox to show deactivated batches.

After you deactivate a batch, ezyVet changes the batch's inventory levels to zero. Previously, if you deactivated a batch with an inventory level that was not zero:
  • ezyVet kept the recorded inventory level for the batch
  • The applicable product record used the deactivated batch's inventory level to calculate its total inventory level

The Overall inventory movement table does not show information of deactivated batches.

In ezyVet version 45.5 and subsequent versions, ezyVet changes the inventory levels of deactivated batches that your site recorded before version 45.5. For more information about the changes, refer to ezyVet version 45.5: Changes to inventory levels of batches.

Change: Before you deactivate a batch, correct its inventory levels

If a batch has a recorded quantity that is not zero in ezyVet hospitals that you have access to, you cannot deactivate the batch. Before you can deactivate the batch, you must change the batch quantity to zero in each hospital. If you try to deactivate the batch, ezyVet shows a dialog box with the name Resolve inventory before disabling. The dialog box shows each hospital that has inventory of the batch, and the hospital's recorded quantity. For each hospital, you must do one of these steps:
  • Change the quantity of the batch to zero
  • Move the quantity to a different active batch of the same product

When you change or move the batch quantity, you can select an inventory adjustment reason or enter a new one. ezyVet uses the reason for the inventory adjustment that it makes when you deactivate the batch.

Note: If you do not select or enter an inventory adjustment reason, ezyVet uses this reason: Adjustment to zero out stock due to batch becoming inactive. ezyVet does not save the inventory adjustment reason as a reason that you can select for other inventory adjustments.
To save the batch quantity changes as an inventory adjustment, select Resolve and disable. After you select Resolve and disable, ezyVet:
  • Changes or moves the batch quantity
  • Makes an inventory adjustment that records the changed or moved batch quantity
  • Deactivates the batch
If a batch has a recorded quantity that is not zero in a hospital that your user account does not have access to:
  • You cannot deactivate the batch
  • An Edit batch dialog box does not show the Disable button

If you try to deactivate the batch, ezyVet shows a message that tells you each applicable hospital.

Previously, it was possible to deactivate the batch.

Change: Replace a batch with a different batch

You can replace a batch record with a different batch record for the same product. For example, if you incorrectly made two batch records for the same batch, you can replace the incorrect record with the correct one. When you replace a batch, the change is only applicable to the ezyVet hospital that you are signed in to.

To replace a batch:
  1. Select the Inventory tab of a batch-tracked product record.
  2. In the Inventory balances table, double-click the row of the batch that you want to replace. As a result, ezyVet shows an Edit batch dialog box.
  3. In the Edit batch dialog box, select Replace By...
  4. In the Replacement batch box, select the applicable batch.
  5. Select Replace.
After you replace a batch, ezyVet:
  • Adds the quantity of the replaced batch to the quantity of the batch that you replaced it with
  • Sets the quantity of the replaced batch to zero
  • Changes all possible records that used the replaced batch to use the batch that you replaced it with
  • Does not change records that it cannot change (for example, approved inventory counts)
  • Shows the changes to batch quantities in the Overall inventory movement and Inventory balances tables

Changes to the Inventory Value report

In the output of the Inventory Value report, the name of the Average Cost Price Per Unit column changed to Weighted Average Cost Price Per Unit.

To calculate a product's average cost price, the report output uses the product's average cost per item from all records of these record types:
  • Received inventory records
  • Received invoice records
  • Inventory adjustments

The calculated cost price uses the quantities of a product recorded in the applicable record types for weighting. For example, your records can have more quantity of a given product with a $2 cost than a $1 cost. As a result, the $2 cost has a larger effect on the calculated cost price than the $1 cost price.

Previously, the report output showed only the last cost price that you recorded for the product.

If a product has no Weighted Average Cost Price Per Unit value, the report output:
  • Uses the product's sell price of the product on the end date of the report period as the cost price
  • Shows a star symbol ( ★ ) for each applicable product line

If the product also has no sell price, the report output shows a cost price of $0.00 and the star symbol.

The output of the Inventory Value report has a new Current Unit Cost column. The column shows the last cost price that you recorded for each product. To show the column, select Display unit cost price.

Tip: The output of the Inventory Value report always shows the Weighted Average Cost Price Per Unit column. As a result, you can compare a product’s last cost price with its weighted average cost price.

The Inventory Value report has a new Start Date box. Use the Start Date box to show only inventory values after a given date. The report output does not use inventory values recorded before the start date in quantity and cost calculations.

If you enter a date in the Start Date box, the report output uses only the inventory that you received in the report period. The Inventory Value report output calculates the Weighted Average Cost Price Per Unit value from that inventory. The report output multiplies the value by the full inventory level of each product. Previously, the report output calculated the value from all of your inventory records.

If you received no inventory of a product in the report period, the report output:
  • Uses the cost price of the product record
  • Shows a dagger symbol ( † ) for each applicable product line
Below the report output, a note tells you which cost price the report output used.

If you do not enter a date in the Start Date box, the report output does not change.

ezyVet version 45.5 removes the Show inventory value average checkbox from the Inventory Value report settings.

Change to the Inventory Take report

The Inventory Take report has a new setting that you can use to show one row for each batch of a batch-tracked product. When you select the setting, the report output has these rows for each batch-tracked product:
  • One row for each batch that has a batch number
  • One row that has an empty Batch entry for the product quantity that is not related to a batch
Note: If you use the report output for an inventory count and these conditions agree, ezyVet does not use a row's information to calculate inventory levels:
    • The row is for a batch-tracked product
    • The row's Batch entry is empty

As a result, the total quantity of the product's batch rows is equal to the product's total inventory level.

Previously, the report output had:
  • One row for each product
  • An empty Batch column

Changes to the template editor

ezyVet version 45.5 adds an Insert table by size button to the table menu of the template editor. Select Insert table by size, then enter the number of rows and columns of a new table. The maximum is 100 rows and 100 columns. Previously, you could only use a grid to add a table.

ezyVet version 45.5 adds an Anchor button to the toolbar of the template editor. Use the button to specify a location in the content. You can then add a link directly to that location from other content.

ezyVet version 45.5 removes the Required checkbox from the Text Field Properties and Checkbox Properties dialog boxes of the template editor because the checkbox had no function. A client can send a remote signature form when an applicable text box or checkbox is empty. If you open and save a document template that uses the Required checkbox, ezyVet removes the setting from the template.

Changes to user interface controls for integration passwords, client secrets, and keys

Note: The changes are available from August 27, 2026 (New Zealand Standard Time).
In settings of standard product supplier integrations (SPSI) and standard diagnostics integrations (SPI), ezyVet has changes to interface controls. If you enter one of these types of information in a settings box, you can use a new eye button to show or hide the information that you enter:
  • Passwords
  • Integration keys
  • API keys
  • Client secrets
  • Tokens

Previously, you could not see the information that you entered in an integration settings box.

Google Maps integration: Adjacent to the Google Maps API Key box, ezyVet has a new checkbox. Use the checkbox to replace an API key that you entered with ezyVet's standard API key for the integration. After you select the checkbox:
  • To keep the standard API key, do not enter a value in the box, then select Save
  • To replace the standard API key, enter a new API key, then select Save

Other changes

Appointments: ezyVet version 45.5 has better performance and saves recurring and bulk appointments more quickly.

Fix for inventory transfers with batch-tracked products

When you select Split Transfer to make a copy of an inventory transfer that includes batch-tracked products, ezyVet:
  1. Makes a copy of the inventory transfer
  2. Enters a batch number for each applicable line item in the copy of the inventory transfer
Previously, when you tried to make a copy of an inventory transfer that included batch-tracked products, ezyVet:
  • Did not make a copy of the inventory transfer
  • Did not show an error message to tell you that it did not make a copy of the inventory transfer

The rVetLink integration's change log correctly opens and does not show entries for the automatic sync of the integration. Previously, ezyVet added a change log entry each time that the automatic sync did a check for new data. As a result, the change log operated slowly, or ezyVet showed an error message.

Note: ezyVet does not automatically remove change log entries for automatic sync that the integration added before version 45.5.

Fixes for the Inventory Value report

Report output in Microsoft Excel format correctly shows the Total Inventory Value and Cost Price Per Unit columns in currency format. Previously, the report output did not show the columns in currency format. As a result, you could not use the column entries as numbers to sort the report output.

When you sell an inventory-tracked product, its Weighted Average Cost Price Per Unit value does not change in the report output. Previously, when you sold an inventory-tracked product, its Weighted Average Cost Price Per Unit value changed in the report output.

Fixes for the template editor

The template editor shows all of its toolbar buttons in the applicable screens and dialog boxes. Previously, the template editor did not show some toolbar buttons (for example, Underline, Strikethrough, Blockquote, Indent, Outdent, Justify, Insert image, and Insert table).

When you select the space bar on the line above a horizontal line, the template editor puts the space and the cursor on that line. Previously, the template editor put the space and the cursor on the line below the horizontal line.

If you use the Selection Field Properties dialog box to add an empty dropdown form entry, the template editor keeps the dropdown's empty entry. Previously, the template editor removed the empty entry. As a result, the dropdown showed the first entry in the list.

When you send an email that has an embedded image, ezyVet keeps the image in the message. ezyVet does not add the image as an attachment to the applicable patient record or contact record. For example, an email template can use the {EmbeddedBusinessLogo} template variable to show a business logo. Previously, ezyVet added the image to the record as an attachment that had a file name that started with blobid.

The template editor has a full-screen button in its toolbar. Select the button to expand the editor to fill the screen. While the editor is in full-screen mode, other on-screen elements do not show (for example, the quick links area). To deactivate full-screen mode, select the button again. After you deactivate full-screen mode:
  • The editor goes back to its usual dimensions
  • ezyVet scrolls up to the start of the template

Previously, you could not use full-screen mode in the template editor. As a result, you could not see the full content of a wide template unless you scrolled horizontally.

ezyVet correctly saves a document template that uses a Twig conditional statement (for example, an {% if %} statement). Previously, when you saved the template in the editor, ezyVet incorrectly changed the statement. As a result, ezyVet showed an error message for an estimate that used the template.

ezyVet keeps you signed in when you enter or select text in the template editor or its source code view. Previously, if you only entered or selected text in the template editor (for example, when you write a clinical note or an email), ezyVet could sign you out or show the session lock screen for inactivity while you continued to work.

Fix for prescriptions for restricted veterinary medicines (RVMs)

When these conditions agree, ezyVet does not dispense a prescription for a restricted veterinary medicine (RVM):
  • You are signed in to a different department than the department of the prescription
  • Your user account is configured to use its inventory location for automated invoicing
When ezyVet does not dispense an RVM, ezyVet shows an error message that tells you the applicable inventory location and department. To dispense the RVM, do one of these steps:
  • Sign in to the correct department and inventory location
  • Change the recorded veterinarian who prescribed the RVM
Previously, when ezyVet did not dispense an RVM, ezyVet:
  • Decreased the quantity of the prescription
  • Showed an error message and a confirmation message at the same time
  • Did not invoice the medication

Fix for Windcave terminal payments

ezyVet correctly cancels the payment if you select Cancel transaction. If ezyVet cannot make sure that the terminal canceled the payment, ezyVet shows a message. The message tells you to cancel the payment on the terminal.

Previously, ezyVet showed a message that the payment was canceled, but did not cancel the payment on the terminal. If the terminal showed a gratuity request, ezyVet only removed the request. As a result:

  1. The payment continued on the terminal.
  2. You could not start a new terminal payment.

Fix for contained items of product containers

When you increase the quantity of a medication, ezyVet removes the correct quantity of a contained item. The medication must be a product container. The contained item must have a quantity that does not change. ezyVet removes the quantity of the contained item one time for each invoice line:

  • If the increase changes the first invoice line, ezyVet removes the quantity one time
  • If the increase adds a new invoice line, ezyVet removes the quantity again for the new line

Previously, ezyVet removed the quantity one time for each dispense. As a result, the inventory level of the contained item was too low.

Other fixes

Search-backed dropdown lists no longer show the currently selected record twice. For example, in the Change Location window, the current inventory location now appears only once in the list, and other matching results are no longer displaced.

Estimates: Bundle item quantities now calculate correctly and respect the item's "Fixed quantity" setting when a bundle line's quantity is changed.

PayJunction integration: For PayJunction payments, ezyVet correctly shows the Update Transaction dialog box. Previously, ezyVet intermittently did not show it.

IDEXX Telemedicine and diagnostic interpretation requests: ezyVet correctly saves text that includes a < character in the Diagnostic Request Specifics/History or Notes for Specialist boxes. And ezyVet also correctly shows interpretation result text that includes a < character. Previously, ezyVet incorrectly removed some of the text.

Inventory counts: When you select Start Count, ezyVet keeps the department that you selected for the inventory count. Previously, ezyVet did not keep the selected department. As a result, the inventory count did not include products that are only in that department.

If you set the template editor to full-screen mode, the template editor settings show and operate correctly. Previously, some of the settings did not open in view correctly.

Controlled Drug report: In the output of the Controlled Drug report, ezyVet enters values in the Electronic Prescription Reference Number (DSP20) and Electronic Prescription Order Number (DSP21) columns. ezyVet uses the medication number and the medication UID of the prescription for the values. Previously, the DSP21 column was empty.

Note: This change is applicable to the ASAP report versions 4.2, 4.2A, 4.2B, and 5.0.

ezyVet version 45.5 makes the PDF of a document more quickly when its document template refers to the same stylesheet many times. Previously, ezyVet made some of these PDFs very slowly or could not make them. The PDF shows the same information as before.
