About record search

ezyVet has a full search system that you can use to quickly and easily find records (for example, patients, clients, and invoices).

Each primary record type has a related search interface. For example, the Patients primary tab has a search interface to find patient records. And the Contacts primary tab has a search interface to find many types of contact records. The search interface usually shows in the left sidebar.

Note: The Financial primary tab also has a dedicated search interface that you can use to find many types of financial records.

To find records with the search interface, you can use many different types of record information. For example, to find a patient you can use information that includes species, microchip number, and owner name.

It is not necessary to enter the full quantity of information to get a search result. But ezyVet will show results that are the most applicable first. For example, if you do a contact record search for Smith, ezyVet shows results that have the name Smith before Smithers.
Note: ezyVet does not show search results in alphabetical sequence.
The bottom of the left sidebar shows:
  • The total number of records of a record search
  • The number of records shown on the page

Search tabs

The search interface of most primary record types has a set of tabs. Each tab only shows records that have a specified condition. For example, the NRB tab of invoice record search only shows invoices that have the not-ready-for-billing condition. The I/A tab only shows disabled records. And the All tab shows all records.

The global search tool

The global search tool is a method that you can use to quickly and easily find records and related information. The global search tool is available in all ezyVet screens. It uses a standard set of data for search input.

To use global search, select the search box that shows adjacent to the primary tabs:

To find records, you can enter this information:
  • Contact record names
  • Patient names
  • Breed names
  • Phone numbers
  • Email addresses
  • Rabies numbers
  • Microchip numbers
  • Clinical record codes

When you select a search result, ezyVet opens the record in a new record tab.

Note: ezyVet has settings that a practice manager can use to configure search weighting. But the settings are only applicable to the search box of the left sidebar. The global search tool has automatic search weighting that a practice manager or other staff cannot adjust.
Tip: To quickly open the global search tool, select the / key.

Find specified records

The search interface of each primary record type is a good general method to quickly and easily find records. But to do a search for specified records, it is best to use ezyVet's Records dashboard tab.
