Configuration of medication expiration dates and quantities

A product configured as a medication has dedicated settings for expiration dates and refills. The settings show in the Medication Settings and Refill Settings sections of the Advanced tab of the product’s configuration. To configure medication expiration dates, use the Medications Settings section. To configure refill quantities, intervals, and refill expiration dates, use the Refill Settings section.

Each section shows Default settings and Maximum settings. ezyVet automatically uses the Default values for prescriptions that staff make. If necessary, staff can override the values when they make a prescription.

The Maximum values give the limit for the Default values. For example, a practice manager could set a maximum expiration date of two months for a medication. Then, a staff member could try to set an expiration date of more than two months when they make a prescription that uses the medication. As a result, ezyVet shows an error message that tells the staff member about the maximum expiration date:
