Configuration of a product’s dosage properties

A practice manager can configure the dosage properties of a medication product.

The dosage properties include:
  • Minimum dispense quantity
  • Concentration
  • The method used to calculate the concentration of the medication
  • Infusion rate
  • If the medication is a constant rate infusion (CRI) product

This table gives each setting and its function:
Setting Function
Lowest Dispensable Use to set the minimum product dosage that a staff member can dispense.

Quantity: The minimum quantity that a staff member can dispense.

Unit: The unit of measurement of the Quantity value. Available units of measurement are:
  • kg - Kilograms
  • lb - Pounds
  • ml - Millilitres
  • fl oz - Fluid Ounces
  • g - Grams
  • I - Litre
  • oz - Ounces
  • mg - Milligram
  • ug - Microgram
  • IU - International Units
  • cap - Cap
  • chew – Chew
  • puff – Puff
  • table - Tablet
Concentration Use to set the quantity of the active ingredient that is in the dosage.

Quantity: The quantity of the active ingredient.

Unit: The unit of measurement of the Quantity value. Available units of measurement are:
  • kg - Kilograms
  • lb - Pounds
  • g - Grams
  • 02 - Ounces
  • mg - Milligram
  • ug - Microgram
  • IU - International Units
Volume: The volume of the dosage vehicle or diluent. Available values are:
  • ml – Millilitres
  • fl oz - Fluid Ounces
  • I – Litre
  • cap – Cap
  • chew – Chew
  • puff – Puff
  • table - Tablet
Concentration Diluted Use to set the new concentration of a medication when a staff member dilutes the medication for a patient.

Quantity: The quantity of the active ingredient.

Unit: The unit of measurement of the Quantity value. Available units of measurement are:
  • kg - Kilograms
  • lb - Pounds
  • g - Grams
  • 0z - Ounces
  • mg - Milligram
  • ug - Microgram
  • IU - International Units
Volume: The total volume of the diluent or vehicle. Available values are:
  • ml – Millilitres
  • fl oz - Fluid Ounces
  • I - Litre
  • cap - Cap
  • chew - Chew
  • puff - Puff
  • table - Tablet
Default Dosage Calculation Method Use to set the default method that ezyVet uses to calculate the dosage.

Not Set: Do not use a default method.

BSA: Use the body surface area of the patient.

Weight: Use the weight of the patient.
Default Administration Method Set the default method that a staff member uses to administer the medication. Available methods are:
  • Not Set
  • PO (Oral/Per Os)
  • IV (Intravenous)
  • SQ (Subcutaneous)
  • IM (Intramuscular)
  • IO (Intraosseus)
  • Sublingual
  • Conjunctival
  • OS (in left eye)
  • OD (in right eye)
  • OY (in both eyes)
  • AS (in left ear)
  • AD (in right ear)
  • AU (in both ears)
  • Rectal
  • Transdermal
  • Respiratory
Note: If you select Not Set, ezyVet does not use a default method.
Sheet Group Use to set the related electronic sheet. Available values are:
  • Diagnostics
  • Fluids
  • Monitoring
  • Nursing Care
  • Procedures
Infusion Rate Per Use to set the period that the quantity of the medication in the volume is infused into the patient. Available values are:
  • sec – Second
  • min – Minute
  • hr – Hour
  • day – Day
  • wk – Week
  • mo - Month
Is this a constant rate infusion (CRI) product? Use to set the product as a CRI product. The available values are Yes or No.
