Mass Communications: Email filters

The Mass Communications feature has a set of filters that you can use to control which clients receive an email. For example, you can send an email to all clients who have pets that are more than 10 years old.

Note: Email filters for mass communications is a beta feature and is only available for specified customers. If you want to try the beta feature, send an email to vello-product-team@idexx.com.

When you make an email, you can select Send to filtered clients in the Recipients dialog box to get access to the filters:

These are the available filters that you can select:
  • Species
  • Breed
  • Patient Age
  • Sex
  • Last Appointment Date
Note: The available species, breed, and sex that show in the applicable filter sections sync directly from your PIMS.
In the Filter Recipients section, you can:
  • Select more than one filter (for example, you can select a species and a sex)
  • Make more than one selection for species, breed, and sex (for example, in the Species section, you can select canine and feline)
Note: In the Recipients dialog box, Vello automatically selects Exclude clients with only deceased or inactive pets. If you want to send the email to clients that have only deceased or inactive pets, you can clear the setting.

After you select filters, Vello uses them to find the applicable patients in your PIMS. Then, you can send the email.

Note: ezyVet hospitals: If you use filters, Vello only sends the email to clients of the hospital that you use Vello settings in ezyVet to sign in to.

Kristine Kochanski is a client of Callisto Vets and their dog, Ruby is seven years old. James McCoy at Callisto Vets wants to send an email that is only applicable to canines that are between five years old and 10 years old. To make sure that Vello only sends the email to the applicable clients, James:
  • Selects Canine in the Species section
  • Adds the applicable date range in the Patient Age section

As a result, when James sends the email in Vello, Kristine receives it.
