Use product groups to put sets of related products in a group. Product groups make it easier to make changes to many products at the same time. And product groups make it easier to do reporting for sets of related products.

ezyVet has no limits for the products that you can add to a product group or which names you can give to a product group. Example product groups shows a set of configured product groups of an ezyVet site. The product groups include groups for clinical items, consumables, medications, and more.

The settings of a product group include an Action setting. Use Action to quickly and easily make changes to all products of a product at the same time.

Examples of product changes that you can make with the Action setting:

• Change produce prices
• Change product markup
• Set medication instructions or warnings
• Change tax information
• Add relations to a care service
• Merge product records
• Make sales templates
• Add or remove service fees
• Add or remove tags
• Configure inventory tracking

The Action setting of a product group gives a method to do exports of product record information. Examples of exports that you can do:

• Product pricing
• General product information
• Controlled drugs

Tip: The Action setting of a product group has many of the same changes and exports that you can do with the Action setting of the Records dashboard tab.

Product groups and reporting

Product groups make it easier do reporting because you can select a product group as a filter for some reports. As a result, ezyVet uses all products of the product group to calculate the report output. Thus, it is not necessary to select one product each time for an applicable report.

For example, some of the ezyVet reports that are applicable to end-of-year reporting can use a product group as a filter. The product group makes it easier to quickly know revenue for a set of related products. For example, you could have a set of products that you use for grooming. To make it easier to do revenue reporting for the grooming products:

1. Make a product group with the name Grooming
2. Add grooming product records to the Grooming product group
3. In applicable reports, select the Grooming product group
