About treatment templates

Use a treatment template to quickly and easily add all of the applicable treatments to a patient sheet. Treatment templates decrease the quantity of manual work for staff to add treatments to a patient sheet. A practice manager must configure treatment templates.

Initial treatment templates

A new Vet Radar site always has five initial templates:
  • Anesthesia Monitoring
  • Emergency Drugs
  • Hospitalization – Canine
  • Hospitalization – Feline
  • Hosp Add On: Imaging
  • Surgery Add On: Desexing
  • Surgery Add On: General Sx

A practice manager can use the initial templates as a source to make treatment templates for your organization. It is not necessary to manually make a template from an empty template each time.

You can make changes to the five initial templates. But you cannot remove the emergency drugs template. Vet Radar uses the emergency drugs template to configure the medications of the emergency drugs button.

Treatment template settings

This table shows each treatment template setting and its function:
SettingFunction
NameThe name of the template. Staff can use the name to find the template and add it to a patient sheet.
DescriptionGives general information about the template. Vet Radar only shows the general information of the template in the Treatment Templates screen.
OwnerThis setting has no function.
DepartmentThe location that the template is used.
ActiveIf you enable the Active setting, staff can use the treatment template. If you disable the Active setting, staff cannot use the template.
Template FilterUse the Template Filter box to select a filter. The filters controls if staff can select the treatment template in the anaesthesia sheet or hospital sheet.

If you set Template Filter to Hospital, staff can use the treatment template in the patient sheet.

If you set Template Filter to Anaesthesia, staff can use the treatment template in the anaesthesia sheet and the patient sheet.

Linked Workflow TemplateYou can select a workflow template that Vet Radar adds to the patient sheet at the same time.

About the treatments in a treatment template

You can add treatments to a template or make changes to a treatment in a template.

You can add as many treatments as is necessary. When you add a treatment to a template, Vet Radar shows settings that you use to configure the treatment. Vet Radar uses the settings that you configure to control scheduled treatment tasks (for example, when a treatment starts and stops). Vet Radar shows the time that you scheduled the treatment tasks to occur in the treatment template:

You can change the treatment settings after you add the treatment to a patient sheet. And you can also remove a treatment from a treatment template.

Treatment templates with different departments and business units

You can select a department of a business unit when you make a treatment template. If you select a department, Vet Radar only shows the products of the department's business unit. And staff can only select the treatment template if the Consultation department box of a patient sheet is set to the applicable department.

If you do not use the Department box to select a department, staff can use the treatment template with a patient sheet of all available departments. For example, if you make a treatment template for monitoring that only uses custom products, it is not necessary to select a department. As a result, staff can use the treatment template with all available departments.
Note: If necessary, you can select many departments. But you can only select one business unit.

The departments of a business unit
If necessary, you can change the department of a treatment template after you made the treatment template. If a product of the treatment template is not available in the department that you changed to, you must remove the product. Vet Radar automatically disables the treatment template until you remove the product of the initial department. Vet Radar shows an error message that tells you that the products are not available in the department:
