User account permissions for clinical records

A practice manager can use user account permissions to control who has access to the records of a clinical record. For example, they can use the permissions to prevent access to a Health Status record or a Pertinent History record.

A person’s user account settings show the clinical record permissions in the Clinical section of the Permissions tab:
The Clinical section of the Permissions tab
To prevent changes to clinical record information, clear the Add/Edit permission and Disable/Restore permission of the applicable record type. For example, to prevent changes to Health Status records, clear Health Status > Add/Edit and Health Status > Disable/Restore:

If you clear the Clinical Record > Add/Edit and Clinical Record > Disable/Restore permissions, a staff member cannot make a clinical record:

Note: If you clear these permissions, the applicable person cannot remove billing triggers of Medication records, Therapeutic/Procedure records, or Diagnostic Request records:
  • Clinical > Diagnostics and Treatments > Medication > Add/Edit
  • Clinical > Diagnostics and Treatments > Therapeutic / Procedure > Add/Edit
  • Clinical > Diagnostics and Treatments > Diagnostic Request > Add/Edit
