How ezyVet uses inventory threshold settings to calculate inventory levels

The Ordering tab of a product's configuration has a set of inventory threshold settings. The inventory threshold settings and their related values control how ezyVet calculates the necessary quantities for a related inventory order.

The table that follows gives examples of conditions and results of the inventory threshold settings.
Tip: ezyVet shows Add Required Inventory when you make or change an inventory order:

You record a Minimum Inventory Level (Units) value of 0.If you record a Minimum Inventory Level (Units) value of 0, you cannot select Add Required Inventory to add the product to the inventory order.
You record a Reorder to Max Level value of 0.If you record a Reorder to Max Level value of 0, ezyVet adds the necessary quantity to the inventory order when you select Add Required Inventory. (That is, ezyVet adds the quantity that is necessary to increase the inventory level to the Minimum Inventory Level (Units) value.)
You record a Reorder to Max Level value that is less than the Minimum Inventory Level (Units) value. If you record a Reorder to Max Level value that is less than the Minimum Inventory Level (Units) value, ezyVet adds the necessary quantity to the inventory order when you select Add Required Inventory. (That is, ezyVet adds the quantity that is necessary to increase the inventory level to the Minimum Inventory Level (Units) value.)
You record a Minimum Reorder Amount value of 0.If you record a Minimum Reorder Amount value of 0, ezyVet adds the necessary quantity to the inventory order when you select Add Required Inventory. (That is, ezyVet adds the quantity that is necessary to increase the inventory level to the Minimum Inventory Level (Units) value.)
You record a Minimum Reorder Amount value that does not increase the inventory level to more than the Minimum Inventory Level (Units) value. If you record a Minimum Reorder Amount value that does not increase the inventory level to more than the Minimum Inventory Level (Units) value, ezyVet adds the necessary quantity to the inventory order when you select Add Required Inventory. (That is, ezyVet adds the quantity that is necessary to increase the inventory level to the Minimum Inventory Level (Units) value.)
A product has a negative inventory level.ezyVet uses an inventory level value of 0 with the applicable inventory threshold rules to calculate the necessary product quantity for a correct inventory order.
Callisto Vets buys a type of collar. It is necessary for Callisto Vets to always have sufficient inventory levels of the collar available. The practice manager configures the inventory threshold settings for the collar product. When a staff member makes an inventory order, ezyVet uses the inventory threshold settings to tell them the necessary number of collars to order.
Callisto Vets usually keeps a full inventory of 20 collars. The practice manager makes a decision that staff must order more collars when the inventory level of the collars is less than five items. Thus, the practice manager:
  1. Enters a Minimum Inventory Level (Units) value of 5
  2. Enters a Reorder to Max Level value of 20

Callisto Vets has two collars in inventory. A staff member makes an inventory order and selects Add Required Inventory. As a result, ezyVet adds 18 collars to the purchase order.

Callisto Vets buys a type of dog food. It is necessary for Callisto Vets to always have sufficient inventory levels of the dog food available. The practice manager configures the inventory threshold settings for the dog food product. When a staff member makes an inventory order, ezyVet uses the inventory threshold settings to tell them the necessary number of bags of dog food to order.
The practice manager makes a decision that staff must order more bags of dog food when the inventory level is less than 25 items. This is to make sure that Callisto Vets keeps a minimum of 25 bags in inventory. Thus, the practice manager:
  1. Enters a Minimum Inventory Level (Units) value of 25
  2. Enters a Minimum Reorder Amount value of 10

Callisto Vets has 20 bags of dog food in inventory. A staff member makes an inventory order and selects Add Required Inventory. As a result, ezyVet adds ten bags of dog food to the purchase order.

The next time that a staff member makes an inventory order, Callisto Vets has only five bags of dog food in inventory. When they select Add Required Inventory, ezyVet adds 20 bags of dog food to the inventory order.
